Career - Benefits

The Greater Kansas City Chapter American Red Cross offers the following benefits for benefit eligible positions. The Red Cross determines benefit programs to be offered, as well as eligibility and cost sharing provisions. The Red Cross reserves the right, at its discretion, to modify its benefits program offerings, eligibility definitions and cost sharing provisions without advanced notice.

Paid time Off (PTO)
The Greater Kansas City Chapter provides a flexible paid time off (PTO) program which allows employees to use PTO for absences due to illness, vacation or personal need. PTO is accrued on a per pay period basis. For employees working less than 40 hours per week, PTO accumulation is pro-rated.

Holidays
The Greater Kansas City Chapter observes 10 holidays each year. For employees working less than a 40 hour work week; holiday pay is pro-rated based on hours worked. The holidays observed are:
  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr., Day
  • President's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Day & day after
  • Christmas Day
401K Plan
The Greater Kansas City Chapter offers a tax-deferred retirement savings program as authorized under Sections 401(k) of the Internal Revenue Code. Employees are immediately eligible to enroll in the plan. The Red Cross will match one dollar for each dollar the employee contributes, up to 4% of the employee’s gross pay.

Retirement Plan
American Red Cross Retirement System, which is a Red Cross funded defined-benefit pension plan, is designed to provide employees a monthly pension at retirement age based on years of Red Cross service and final average pay.
