Community Disaster Education Program and Presentations

These courses require a minimum of 10 people.
Length: 30 minutes (Preparing for the Unexpected 1 to 1 1/2 hours)

Disaster Preparedness
Are you prepared if a disaster should occur? This informative presentation provides valuable disaster preparedness guidelines. Included is a discussion on what types of disasters can occur, warning signals that alert people to disasters, and how to stay safe during and after a disaster through preparation. Learn how to set up a communication and escape plan as well as how to put together a disaster supply kit.

Earthquake Safety
This presentation includes discussion on what earthquakes are, what causes them, and how to stay safe during and after an earthquake through preparation. Also learn how to protect your property.

Fire Safety
This presentation provides members of the community with valuable fire safety information. This includes discussion on common causes of fires in the home, how to prepare and prevent a fire and what to do if a fire occurs. Learn how to set up a family fire escape plan and improve your ability to get out of a fire alive.

Floods and Flash Floods Safety
Knowing what to do when floods and flash floods occur could help to save your life. This presentation provides valuable flood and flash flood safety information. Items discussed cover the different types of floods, warning signals that alert people to flood threats, and how to stay safe during and after a flood through preparation. Learn what to do in the event of a flood or flash flood watch and warning and how to set up a Family Disaster Plan for floods.

Heat Wave Safety
Learn valuable heat wave safety information including discussion on why heat waves are extreme heat health risks and how to stay safe during and after a heat wave through preparation. Information will be provided on how to treat and respond to heat-related illness, such as heat stroke. Heat wave hazards in general are also discussed.
