Local Agencies

Following is a list of local agencies that the Greater Kansas City Chapter works with to assist people requiring additional help or service:

Community Connection (www.communityconnection.org) a web-based database project designed to make information about state and local services human services easily available to people.

The Family Conservancy 913-342-1110 (www.thefamilyconservancy.org) provides counseling, child care and adult care resources, family support and education programs at corporate, school and community-based sites. The web site includes descriptions of each of these services and has links to supporting organizations and email links to some staff and other organizations.

Harvesters 816-929-3000 (www.harvesters.org) is Kansas City’s only food bank. Harvesters has worked to feed the hungry in our community for over 20 years.

Kansas City Free Health Clinic 816-753-5144 (www.kcfree.org) offers free health care clinic in midtown and east side Kansas City , staffed by volunteers and is an affiliate of HOA United Way. The web site briefly lists its services, which include prenatal, pediatric, dental services and HIV/AIDS counseling.

Local Investment Commission (LINC) 816-889-5050 (www.kclinc.org) is a citizen-driven community collaborative involved in initiatives to provide employment to those on welfare, create new businesses in the central city, improve the delivery of human services and help improve the lives of families and children.

Mid-America Regional Council 816-474-4240 (www.marc.org) commonly referred to as MARC, it serves as the association of city and county governments and the metropolitan planning organization for the bistate Kansas City region. MARC seeks to build a stronger regional community through cooperation, leadership and planning.

Mid America Assistance Coalition 816-561-2727 (www.maaclink.org) coordinates the work of emergency assistance organizations in the five-county Kansas City metropolitan area. Rent and Utilities Assistance

Partnership For Children 816-531-9200 (www.pfc.org) stands for the principle that children are our most valuable and vulnerable natural resource, and works for change on the behalf of all children of metropolitan Kansas City.

Project Community Alert 816-474-4240 (www.marc.org/emergency/pca.htm) is a campaign sponsored by the Metropolitan Emergency Manager’s Committee to distribute 100,000 weather radios. These weather radios allow owners to program their radios to receive warnings for specific counties.

Partnership for Emergency Planning (www.pepkc.org/) is a partnership of business, industry, and public sector service agencies in the Kansas City Metropolitan area. This public/private partnership of individuals come together to share and become better prepared to respond in an emergency or crisis situation.

Salvation Army 1-800-336-4547 ext. 368
(www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/www_usn.nsf) helps individuals with different problems and abilities regardless of the problem: alcohol, drugs, homelessness, or other social or emotional problems.

United Way of Greater Kansas City 816-472-5112 (www.kcunitedway.org) funds hundreds of programs at many agencies, enabling donors to support a wide range of essential services with just one gift. Serves as a catalyst to bring together community groups that can solve problems.
