The American Red Cross and Drury Hotels Invite You to “Be Our Guest and Donate”
(Kansas City, MO)—The American Red Cross is pleased to announce it is partnering with Drury Hotels to encourage donors to come out and donate. During the month of May, every presenting donor 18 years of age and older at any participating Red Cross blood drive and will be entered into a raffle for the American Red Cross/Drury Hotels “Be Our Guest and Donate” promotion.

Donors will have a chance to enter a drawing to win one of eight, two-night stays at Drury Hotels nationwide. “If lending the Drury Hotels name and reputation to the American Red Cross helps save even one life it is worth it,” said Joe Pereles, vice president development of Drury Inns, Inc. Pereles is also a member of the National Board of Governors of the American Red Cross.

“We are honored to have a well-respected business like Drury Hotels join our efforts to help us spread the word about our lifesaving mission,” said David A. Chumley, CEO of the American Red Cross Missouri-Illinois Blood Services Region. “It is through partnerships like these throughout our region that reinforces what we do every day. This is further proof that when you help the American Red Cross, you help America.”

The timing of the “Be Our Guest and Donate” promotion is planned to get a head start on the upcoming summer months when people are traveling more and collecting blood traditionally is more difficult. Since whole blood donors can give every 56 days, plasma donors every 28 and platelet donors up to 24 times a year; donors who choose to give during the Drury Hotels promotion in May will be eligible to give again later in the summer.

Again, all presenting blood donors 18 and older at participating American Red Cross blood drives in Missouri and Kansas throughout May 2007 are eligible for the contest. In general, American Red Cross donors must be 17 years old (16-year-olds can donate with a Red Cross parental consent form), weight at least 110 pounds, and be in good, general health the day of donation.
