Lingering Effects of Storms Still Affecting Supply

The American Red Cross Missouri-Illinois Region remains on appeal for blood
(Kansas City, MO)—While the Region needs all blood types, the most critical as of Monday morning is type O negative – which sits under one day on the shelf. O negative donors are always needed, as O negative blood is “universal” and may be transfused into anyone regardless of type. You never know when emergency will strike, so help the Red Cross stay prepared with a safe and adequate blood supply.

In fact, with the recent severe winter weather across the Region, the forecast for the blood supply remains critically low. The national Red Cross supply is dangerously low as well. The Missouri-Illinois Region cannot rely on other states to help maintain a safe level. All eligible donors are encouraged to come out and give as soon as possible.

To schedule an appointment or to find a drive near you, please call Jennifer Hammerman at (816) 841-5303.
