Local Red Cross sends volunteers to flood-ravaged areas of eastern Mo. and southern Ill.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Red Cross is sending five more volunteers to help with the disaster relief effort in Missouri and Illinois. The volunteers are leaving from chapter headquarters, 211 W. Armour Blvd., on Monday, March 24, at 8:30 a.m.

Three are headed for St. Louis, Mo., while the other two are going to Marion, Ill. They will perform duties such as assessing flood damage to homes, helping families obtain further assistance and distributing food and supplies in the community.

The Greater Kansas City Chapter deployed six volunteers to Cape Girardeau, Mo., last week. Chapter volunteers and staff remain on alert as the flooding continues.
