Red Cross teamed up with local radio stations to promote severe weather safety

March starts another round of severe weather for the metro area. The threat of tornados, flash floods, thunderstorms and lightning means that we all must be vigilant about protecting ourselves and our families.

To increase awareness of the pressing need to be prepared, the American Red Cross of Greater Kansas City has teamed up with three radio stations during Severe Weather Week, March 10 – 14.

KMBZ 980AM gave away Red Cross weather radios during their morning newscast with E.J. and Ellen. The station also gave away Red Cross personal first-aid kits in the Darla’s Show from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and during the Shanin and Parks from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

WOLF 106.5 FM ran the radio giveaway all five days of Sever Weather Week with Red Cross severe weather information running eight-times a day from March 10 – 12.

KUDL 91.1 FM gave away the radios during its morning show and highlighted that they are an important part of a Red Cross severe weather kit.
