Red Cross Rolls Out New Mobile Feeding Vehicle
On Thursday, August 10, American Red Cross Greater Kansas City Chapter volunteers, donors and staff attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the Chapter’s latest state-of-the-art mobile feeding vehicle.
The American Red Cross frequently responds to disasters to assist with mobile feeding operations. With four burners and a prep stove, as well as two microwave/convection ovens, this new vehicle will allow volunteers to prepare and/or deliver meals in the field. Additionally, it provides space for containers to keep food and drinks at the proper temperature. The vehicle is equipped with a service window that can be covered with an awning to shield clients from the elements, as well as directional spotlights for setting up during the evening.
"The vehicle is state-of-the-art in canteen vehicles,” commented Ken Cope, director of emergency services for the Greater Kansas City Chapter. “It has many amenities that will help us to serve our clients better.”
