Red Cross assists victims of apartment fire in Raytown
The American Red Cross is assisting several families after an early-morning fire damaged multiple units of an apartment complex at 9915 E. 61st St. in Raytown, Mo.
Six Red Cross volunteers are on the scene meeting with families to provide for their immediate needs such as temporary housing and funds for food, emergency medication and clothing.
The Red Cross is helping the eight families from the eight units the fire affected.
This is only the beginning of the assistance the Red Cross will offer the residents the fire has affected. As part of our mission to help families rebuild their lives, Red Cross caseworkers will be in communication with the victims well after today. Based on a formula of need, other assistance can be made available including funds to help with permanent housing, replacement furniture, medicine and other needs.
