Backyard Pool Safety Welcome to our Backyard Pool Safety Pages! This part of our site is made possible by a generous gift from the Colloton family in memory of John Colloton, who drowned in an unsupervised backyard pool, in the hopes of preventing further such tragedies.
We’d like to remind you that while a backyard pool can be a lot of fun, it’s also a tremendous responsibility. Whether you’ve got a pool in your own backyard, or just visit one from time to time, it’s important you know and follow the rules that will help you safely enjoy backyard pools.
Staying safe at your backyard pool means creating a safe environment. That’s why we offer safe pool fencing suggestions, hints on setting up a safety post and information on backyard pool regulations.
But staying safe ALSO means playing it safe. We’ve put together a list of pool rules, suggestions for safety guidelines, and information about what to do and whom to call in case of an emergency.
Finally, just in case the worst does happen, we’ve pulled together information about emergency procedures, CPR and other lifesaving information that will help you react quickly and confidently in case an emergency does arise.
So please look around, print stuff out, tell your friends about these pages and most importantly have fun and stay safe!
