The Old Swimming HoleFor decades, the old swimming hole has represented one of best ways to escape a hot day. In fact, the earliest published work on swimming was written in 1538 by a German language professor! The Red Cross pioneered its water safety program in 1914 to prevent drowning in America.
Learn To Swim Program
For children as young as 6 months or adults as mature as 90, there's a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor ready for you! The Learn To Swim classes offer several levels for various ages and physical abilities. Start out by exploring the water to develop your own comfort level and keep advancing until you learn how to refine common strokes. For more information or to receive a schedule of classes call 816-931-SWIM (7946).
Lifeguard Training
Keeping pools safe is a big responsibility. The Red Cross, a leading provider of lifeguard training, helps make sure your lifeguard has the skills to rescue you or a loved one. Lifeguards spend a minimum of 28 hours of intensive training - both in and out of the water, encompassing water rescue, CPR, and First Aid. All lifeguards learn how to recognize potential hazards before they become dangerous and how to respond quickly in emergencies. For more information or to receive a schedule of classes call 816-931-8400.
These pages are dedicated to the memory of John Colloton.
