Emergency Responder Opportunities

Every day area families turn to the American Red Cross for emergency disaster assistance. Thanks to a team of trained Red Cross volunteers, families receive comfort and hope at the times when they need it most. Being an Emergency Responder volunteer is a great opportunity for anyone who has a caring professional spirit and a desire to help others in need.

Disaster Action Team-DAT (Local)
As a Disaster Action Team (DAT) Volunteer, you will receive classroom and on-the-job training that will allow you to provide assistance to disaster-stricken families right in your hometown. Meeting disaster-related needs at the most critical moments is what being part of the Disaster Action Team is all about. (DAT Volunteers are required to be on-call and attend monthly meetings.)

Disaster Services Human Resources - DSHR (National, State and Local)
Natural disasters, such as tornadoes, floods and fires, can happen to anyone, anytime and anywhere. If you are in good health, have the flexibility to serve on disaster operations for 21 days anywhere in the United States or its territories, with little or no advanced notice - becoming a DSHR Volunteer could be an opportunity for you. Areas of interest include: feeding, sheltering, mental health and communications.

Caseworker
Possessing kind-hearted words and a caring personality can lead you to a volunteer position as a Caseworker. By using Red Cross resources, Caseworkers advise and counsel individuals and families to determine their disaster-caused needs and help to provide them with the basics of food, clothing and shelter. Caseworkers assist with military, international and disaster-related situations.
